An astonishing “war” is still going on in Mallorca’s resorts, and it’s a “war” for sun loungers. It just so happens that those who like to sleep in usually end up without a comfortable spot under the Mallorcan sun. Now, those who like to lounge in bed have changed their tactics, occupying sun loungers not in the morning, but in the evening (from 7 p.m., they occupy the best spots by the pool). Other vacationers are unhappy with this and have complained to hotel management. In May, an American tourist vacationing in the Canary Islands in Spain posted a video on the internet showing a crowd of vacationers civilly (waiting in line for an hour) occupying sun loungers in the morning by throwing their towels on them.

This ritual shocked him greatly. In the comments, he described how a queue formed at 8 a.m. for the pool to open, and then everyone rushed to the sun loungers, with most of the vacationers throwing down their towels and going back to sleep. Vacationers who were dissatisfied with this situation confronted the lazybones. For example, one of the vacationers spent a considerable amount of time throwing these towels into the pool.

This act of retaliation caused a loud scandal at the hotel. After that, the administration had to take action and inform guests that all unattended items left on the sun loungers would be removed if the owner could not be found near the pool.
